A Waste Education Strategy was identified as a priority under the Midwaste Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy 2009-12. This Strategy has now been completed and is available here

The overall aim is to provide tools to enable the delivery of appropriate, effective and sustainable projects that will encourage behavioural and attitudinal change in relation to consumption and waste.

Projects delivered under this Strategy will:

  • Contribute to the delivery of outcomes of the Regional Waste Strategy;
  • Contribute to the achievement of the WARR Strategy targets for 2014;
  • Encourage the development of partnerships wherever practicable;
  • Provide consistency and efficiency across LGAs as far as possible;
  • Ensure consistency with relevant state programs;
  • Consider sustainability outcomes as well as resource recovery outcomes; and
  • Better integrate engagement and behaviour –change strategies into all waste projects funded by Midwaste.
