This Regional Strategy has been designed
to set the MIDWASTE Councils on a course of waste prevention
and resource recovery, which will ultimately see them
achieving the targets outlined in Resource NSW Waste
Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2003.
These targets are as follows:
MIDWASTE Targets
Waste Prevention:
Keep waste generation levels at their current
level.
Resource Recovery:
Increase resource recovery in the C&I sector
from the current 7% to 40%
Increase resource recovery in the C&D sector
from the current 35% to 70%
Increase resource recovery in the Municipal
sector from the current 21% to 40%
Toxic Materials:
Introduce programs which deliver a greater
capture of hazardous wastes from the region.
Litter:
Reduce the volume of litter reported, including
public dumping.
